micropoetry, haiku, tanka and poetry by gennepher

***

***

seashells
in this blue of sky
a ghostly dragon roars

***

slipping through fingers
these grains of sand
faster and faster
the hour glass
empties

***

my last goodbyes
as the sun sets
behind little eye

***

in the distance
the fading
of you

***

time
passes
s i l e n t l y

***

sorrow...
why does it
come to sit on my bed...

***

the night unfurled
a feather
black

***

in the small
of my back
you wrote me a story....

***

I could not name you
I dare not name you
in case
you
left my side

***

in the dark
these tears
diamonds
under
the moon

***

a double whiskey
a second
and then more...
she danced
off her grief

***

meadow flowers
the grass tall
by the oak tree
a simple wooden cross
"ellie"

***

a book
in my possession
the inscription
a betrayal
of who I am

***

you photographed me
time and time
again
those black&white
photographs

***

the light streams
in through the door
three silhouettes
I step
outside my coffin

***

dressed in white
carrying a cornstalk
the little girl
intently she walks
through the cornfield

***

on the edge
of cold
a subtleness

***

a reason why
struggles on the edge of
I don't know why

***

war-time
sheets of music
in the piano stool
the deaf child
put her feet on both pedals
she played the piano keys

***

childhood's
long grass
cowboys and indians

***

the years in between
when were they kind?

***

netted
from the sea of sky
this golden ball

***

patterns
swinging
in the trees
spirits
of farewells

***

shadows
of this blue light
those unreal years

***

shadows of children
these lanterns from forests
wraiths of farewells

***

spirits of farewells
their sea shelled blue
night
dancing
in shadows of children

***

focusing
my lens
the hand of my eye

***

sleeping the stars
a gentle
fall of rain

***

waterfall green
flowing from your eyes
those mossy rocks

***

green mists
while you sat on a rock
the pool so still

***

tumbling
into waters deep
green mists of her breath

***

fluttering
the branches of my head
wings of an owl

***

made from
rainbows dancing
on the sea
my name
I will never know

***

born
of the homeless wave
in waters green
her plaintive song
this darkness deep

***

walking
the shore line
at midnight
an infinity
of star shells

***

candle
a lighthouse beam
this night
of soft
goodbyes

***

catching
the songs
as they escaped
she locked them
in her purse

***

tones
of sepia
hidden away
this locked room
of my mind

***

in
the hallucination
of these stars
your
face

***

you smiled
and in my dreams
I saw you

***

hanging
in the air
our echoes
of future
goodbyes

***

independence
of my life
I stumble
the tide
comes in

***

waiting
for the tide to come in
a bucket and spade

***

solitude
of days
she moves
the calendar
into tomorrow

***

an instant
locked away
forever
this season
of goodbyes

***

tomorrow
is only
another day
the nightingale
sings

***

love
in this lifetime
our
moss covered
initials

***

this paved path
of gravestones
I take care
not to tread
on the words

***

every day
this caged blue songbird
singing so prettily
one day
its clockwork broke down

***

black & white
this freedom
of illusion
inside the box
concentric circles

***

a measuring tape
of words
doomed to fail
leaping away
from deduction

***

doomed to fail
a measuring tape
of words
leaping away
from deduction

***

false trail
of words
you laid
these mists
on quicksands of hope

***

your words
these studious ants
carrying them away
one
by one

***

beneath
these evergreens
cold shadows
plantations
of tidy diagonal rows

***

over chalk hills
of Kent
the Pilgrim's Way
wending its way
through dark pine needles

***

morning
moonlight's
secret
garden
so still

***

sky
so blue
all day
this weather vane
perfectly still

***

sitting
in the soft green light of the church
she watched the pews fill up
then one by one
they all faded away

***

tummyache
I threw the rest of the mince pies
on the garage roof
one two three four five ravens
a mince pie each flew back to the woods

***

five ravens
a mince pie each
fly back home

***

his hooded eyes
sins of the past
hiding

***

carved in stone
her countenance cries
inwardly

***

silence forever
her eyes
accuse

***

graffiti of silence
these ghosts
of concrete

***

golden curls
framing
loneliness

***

loneliness
this heart
of stone

***

all the words
imprisoned
within

***

green ferns
this silent rain
drip drip drip

***

drip
drip
drip

***

through the archway
I catch a glimpse...
is it you?

***

raining
incessantly
all day
this well
of tears

***

her shawl
gossamer light
she shines
looks at me
then floats away

***

blank
canvases
in the garage
your paintings
unfinished

***

summer
I wear
winter gloves
the steering wheel
burning my hands

***

early morning
the garden swing
swinging

***

mists of time
this soft green glade
whispering

***

floating
down the river
her thoughts
never
to be seen again

***

in the mirror
your shadow
my outline

***

his fingers
tracing
all the words
he holds
within

***

haloed
by the light of the moon
wind echoes

***

a little
ballerina's
dance of life
within
this music box

***

outside the box
looking in
I do not understand

***

pausing
in the garden
the music stopped

***

singing
songs of the sea
water fairies
the child on the sand
listens with her silent ears

***

here
this summer
we met
angel wings
enfold me

***

your arms
enfolding me
I disappear
no shadow
on the path

***

ever so gently
you held my head
kissing me
you enfold me
forever

***

everything
and nothingness
this vast space
a sense
of completeness

***

beyond
the broken cage
a brief life
the songbird
flies free

***

the water nymph
weaving
her magic
this deceptive
sheet of glass

***

weeping willow
her long forgotten mists
this brief moment
fading
sepia

***

this stillness of blue
a dragonfly
arches her back

***

soaring
flying high
to the light
wildly fluttering
a moth falls

***

these ties
that bind
one day must loosen
to find your freedom
you fly away
yet it is I that must stay

***

laughing
you ask me
if I want
the bad news first
or the good news
I smile at you
knowing
the answer

***

pacing
from room
to room
waiting
for tomorrow

***

happiness
to sadness
then joy
once again
this bittersweetness

***

secrets
in bewildered eyes
locked
away
so deep inside

***

I turned away
turned back again
you had gone
I held you within
until we met again

***

silent ghosts
orbs of night’s sleep
lighting the way
no-one arrives
no-one leaves

***

early dawn
between worlds
time
this distance
closing in

***

night
so quiet
these ghosts of trees
walking
my way home

***

these trickles
of time
sand
between
her toes

***

calling
her name
the waves
whisper
into silent ears

***

mellowing
of time
my thoughts
this knowing
of you

***

this
wonderful place
the universe
a mystery
of coincidences

***

this summer
on the mountain top
as the universe expanded
a melding
into oneness

***

this summer
the sky was blue
two seagulls

***

this summer
on the mountain top
earth and sky are one

***

unfolding
petal by petal
this secret life

***

looking up
at this deep blue sky
I smile

***

blue
skies
this warmth
inside
of me

***

eyes
so deep
this universe
the stars we fly
in orbs of light

***

the story keeps rewriting itself

***

drystone walls
gates with chains
keeping residents within
these staggering
gravestones

***

a reason
to go away
this dark burden
held
within

***

this
voyage
your silence
I watch
and I wait

***

a place
where others
buried
these photos
always of water

***

the butterfly
weary of flowers
a melancholy
this cocooned
silence

***

dreaming
the sleeper awakes
just in time
to see those dreams
disappearing round the corner

***

these
arms of mine
so tired
weightless
I fly

***

a
white feather
falling
I hold
your hand
